The points can be transferred to the various airline partners and used for premium class travel. Back in April, I moved 80000 points to United Airlines, and I used the points plus $65.98 to go in Star Alliance partner Lufthansa one way from India to the USA in Business Class an award value worth $5,500.
(2) Transfer Chase Sapphire Ultimate Rewards point to multiple airlines and hotel program on 1:1 ratio

List of Hotel Partner Program where you can transfer your miles 1:1 ratio
- Hyatt Gold Passport
- IHG Rewards Club

The transfer to airline partner program allows you to cover three major airline alliances Star Alliance (28 member airlines), One World Alliance (14 member airlines) and Sky Team Alliance (20 member airlines). By transferring points to one of the partner airline program using the miles, you will be able to travel in all of the member airlines of the alliance.
The points transfer to airline partners are immediate, but the hotel partners take anywhere from one to three days. I have transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards point to my United Airlines MileagePlus account for a business class travel to South Asia. The transfer of points are immediate, and the points appeared in United Airlines website 5 minutes after I processed the transfer at Chase website.
For example, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Singapore Chris Flyer frequent flyer program and get a one-way business class travel from the USA to Europe for just 57,500 miles an award value worth $4,000, and the first class costs only 10,000 points more. Singapore Air one of the best first and business class suite available in the air travel industry.
(3) 2X Ultimate Reward points for Travel and Dining
Chase Sapphire gives you one additional point if you use the card for your Travel and Dining related expenses. The travel category includes, but not limited to the following travel related items.
- Flight, train, bus tickets
- Cruise reservation
- Automobile rental charges
- Parking costs
- Hotel charges
- Toll Charges
I have received 2 points for my local spend like parking and paying for Metro bus fare. You will get additional points for parking fees, toll, bus ticket all flagged as travel related category even if you pay for those services, not during your travel.
I have found out when I book through airbnb.com it is flagged as travel related and I got 2 points for the spend, but home away.com is not flagged as travel related and I got only 1 point for the spend. Also, airline points purchase through points.com portal will not be flagged as travel related you will get only one point per dollar spent.
(4) No Foreign Transaction Fee
When you use your credit card in an overseas location, your cost of purchase may add up due to the foreign currency exchange rate as well as foreign transaction fee imposed by the credit card. The exchange rate fluctuate every minute the exchange market is open, and we do not have much control over the exchange rate, but we can control over the 2 to 3% foreign transaction fee imposed on our credit card use overseas.
Chase Sapphire one of the first few cards to waive the foreign transaction fee when you use your card abroad for any purchase transaction. The amount of saving will be around 2 to 3%. Please note only Chase waive its portion of foreign transaction fee, the VISA or Master Card transaction fee is bundled as part of the currency conversion rate which will not be waived for any credit card.
When I used my Chase Sapphire Card in foreign locations and compared the cost of the purchase in local currency with the dollar exchange rate it was as close as possible to the exchange rate on the date of the transaction.
Please note I ran into issues in India during my recent trip when I used the chip enabled Chase Sapphire Card. The problem of using a chip and signature card in India was not isolated to Chase Sapphire card alone I had issues with other chip-enabled card in India. I have written a detailed blog post with regards to using a chip and signature card abroad.
(5) Primary Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
When you use your credit card to rent Automobile most of the Credit Card available on the market will cover insurance only after your primary car insurance coverage completes paying the amount for any covered expenses.
Whereas Chase Sapphire is one of few cards available in the market that provides primary coverage for your rental automobile. The primary coverage includes loss of use of the vehicle and the repair charges which can run into thousands of dollars. The advantage of the primary coverage is unlike your personal car insurance Chase even pay the deductible amount compared to your automobile insurance.
Please note the 3rd party liability is still covered by your auto insurance and not by Chase. Note the primary coverage insurance option may not be available in all the countries. Call Chase and verify before you rent a car outside of USA.
I have always used Chase Sapphire to rent my car during my travel due to the fact I get one additional bonus point as the car rental falls under travel category.
(6) Trip and Baggage Delay Insurance
Chase Sapphire pays up to $100 a day for five days if your baggage is delayed by more than 6 hours by passenger carrier
Chase Sapphire pays Trip Delay Reimbursement if your common carrier travel is delayed more than 12 hours or requires an overnight stay, you and your family are covered for un-reimbursed expenses, such as meals and lodging, up to $500 per ticket.
The above benefit is offered by most of the credit card, but I have read other bloggers take about Chase Sapphire benefit and service are superior to other credit cards.

Issues with the Card
We mentioned the pros, but we also would like to point out the cons with the card.
- Annual fee of $95 waived only during the first year you have this card. Chase is very strict about not waiving the annual fee after the second year.
- No initial reduced finance charges.
- Difficult to get the card. Chase is very strict about giving approval for this card if you have a short-term credit history or low FICO credit score.
Overall this is a great card. If you are planning to have only one or two points-earning cards, this card will nicely fit in your credit card portfolio.
