Here are my miles and points earning for the third quarter of 2017, which includes credit card points, airline miles, shopping portal miles as well as any purchased miles. For comparison, you can see how much I earned during the second quarter of 2017 here.
Credit Card Account Opening and Cancellation During Last Quarter
During the third quarter, my spouse applied and received the 70k Chase United Explorer card with a signup bonus of 70k United MileagePlus frequent flyer miles. I did cancel my Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Business cards during the third quarter, so I have one less card in my card line also my spouse canceled her Barclay AAdvantage Aviator card so no more credit card mileage earnings for American Airlines frequent flyer program.
As of today, the 70k United MileagePlus miles are not posted yet. I expect the miles to post early November when the third-month statement closes.
Please note I do not carry a lot of credit card in my portfolio. I keep only enough cards that will help me to get free premium class travel. Also, I want to have a good relationship with credit card issuers, and I do not play the game apply for a credit card, cancel the card after earning the signup bonus.
During the third quarter, my family joined the Virgin Atlantic frequent flyer program. Unfortunately, my family was not able to credit the miles to Virgin Atlantic frequent flyer program because they were flying in Delta codeshare instead of Delta flight. I have written a detailed blog report about the issue of getting mileage credit for codeshare flights which you can read here.

I earned a total of 30,489 airline miles, credit card, and hotel points during the third quarter of 2017 which is less compared to second-quarter earnings. I did not use my miles or points to purchase an airline ticket or hotel reservation during the third quarter, so there is no outflow of miles or points during the third quarter.
