- Part 5: Review Lufthansa Airbus A380 Business Class Frankfurt to Houston
My flight from India arrived at Terminal A and I had to go to Terminal Z for my connecting flight to the USA. All Lufthansa flights to the USA from Frankfurt departs from Terminal Z. If you are connecting through Frankfurt for your USA flight, you need to clear security right before Terminal Z.
The security check was speedy, I was 2nd in the security check line, and it took just 5 minutes to clear the security. Right after you clear security, you will pass through a duty-free shop, before the entrance to all the Z terminal gates you will see the Lufthansa Lounge.
Checkin at the Lounge
Once you enter your lounge, your boarding pass will be scanned. The lounge entrance is same for both business class as well as Senator lounge. Access to the business class lounge is available if you are traveling business through Lufthansa or you have status with any Star Alliance member.
The check in process was quick there were about 5 or 6 passengers before me it took about 10 seconds for each passengers boarding pass to be scanned and checked in.
The business class lounge was one level above the check in area which can be accessed either by elevator or escalator.
Shower Rooms in the Lounge
Since I was coming from a 9+ hour flight and another 9+ hours to go to my final destination, I wanted to have a quick shower. The shower area is located right after coming out of the elevator.
A person was managing the shower area and asked me to write my flight details and hand over me the key to shower room 8. There are about 10 or 12 shower rooms, and most of them are free.
The shower rooms are good-sized room larger than the standard hotel bathroom size. The was a place to keep your carry-on luggage inside the bathroom.
Breakfast Bar Area
Since I used the lounge around breakfast time, the food items were mainly breakfast items. There was a good variety of food choices were available in the breakfast area.
Coffee, Cold Beverage, and Wine
There was an excellent expresso coffee maker in the breakfast area since I am not a coffee drinker I skipped the coffee line. Also, plenty of sodas were available, in addition to sodas there were some excellent wine varieties were available.
Breakfast Cereal and Fruits
Fruits, Nuts, pretzels and few varieties of breakfast cereals were available in the breakfast bar area. I took some fruits and pieces of bread for my breakfast.
Lounge Sitting Area
As most of the flights to the USA took off in the morning hours, the breakfast area was little crowded. But I was able to find a seat in the sitting area for having my breakfast. There was a beautiful viewing area in the lounge sitting where you can see all the flights parked at the gate as well as flight take off and landing.
Cell Phone Area
There was about 4 or 5 mobile phone booth were available little away from the crowded lounge area.
Computer Access Area
Right next to the cell phone booths are was a nice big computer room, with good WIFI. All kind of power socket option was available for plug in your laptop. If you do not have a laptop no worries there was plenty of desktops available for you to browse the internet or check your email.
I always avoid public computer during my travel, whether for leisure or on work I always carried my laptop, and I only use my laptop for checking my email or browsing the internet.
You can access this lounge if you have a Star Alliance Gold member status or above or you travel in first or business class using any Star Alliance flight. Paid access and Priority Pass access to this lounge are not available.
It is a good lounge with all the facilities, but it could be crowded during morning hours when most of the flight to the USA depart from the terminal. If you want to take a shower, have some food, work on your computer or just relax from the airport crowded it is a nice lounge to spend time. Because the lounge is crowded during morning hours, I will not recommend if you are paying to access this lounge.
