Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is currently running bonus offer on purchased miles. Depending on the miles you buy you could get 20% or 30% or 40% Bonus miles. The bonus miles offer runs till April 6, 2017, 8:59 PM PDT. You need to log on to your Alaska Air Mileage Plan account and find out how much bonus miles you have been offered.
I was offered 40% bonus on the purchased miles. To get the 40% bonus on purchased miles you need to buy at least 40,000 Alaska Airline MileagePlan miles. This bonus offer is less than the 50% bonus offer provided by Alaska Airlines back in September 2016.
Bonus Mile Table
|Miles Purchased (in Range)||Bonus Miles in Percentage|
|1000 – 9000||0%|
|10000 – 19000||20%|
|20000 – 39000||30%|
|40000 – 60000||40%|
Sample 40% bonus on purchased miles
You can buy a maximum of 60,000 miles which will get you a bonus of 24,000 miles for a total of 84,000 miles.
The Alaska Airline miles are very valuable, can be used for Business Class travel to Asia from the continental USA as little as 50,000 miles one way.
Alaska Airline Miles Purchased Value
If you buy a maximum of 60,000 miles, you will be paying 2.11 cents per mile, this, not a better deal compared to the one offered back in September 2016. Unless you are short of miles for a planned trip, I would pass on this offer and wait for the 50% or more bonus offer from Alaska Airlines.
Is it possible to receive additional points for using Travel-related Credit Card
The miles purchase will be processed through points.com, and you will not get extra bonus points for travel related category if you use your card like Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, American Premier Gold, American Express Platinum or Citi Prestige Card that offer bonus points for travel category.
